Paper Review Process

All the submitted papers to SSM are subject to follow a three-steps process which is based on the paper’s novelty, usefulness, and significance. In order to publish one paper from submission to publication, nine steps have designed as follow:

1. Submission of Paper

The corresponding or submitting author submits the paper to internal journal of sustainable structure and materials by using online submission system.

2. Editorial Office Assessment

The editorial Office will check the formats and the paper is scrutinized by a plagiarism tool to ensure whether the standard of the paper is suitable for sending to peer review or not.  The quality of the paper will not be assessed at this point.

3. Assessment by the Editor-in-Chief (EIC)

The EIC will distribute the paper to one of editors and then, he/she will check if it is appropriate for the journal and sufficiently original and interesting. If not, the paper may be rejected without being reviewed any further.

4. Reviewers Invitation and Submission

The editor will invite appropriate reviews in order to review the paper. Normally, the papers will review by three reviewers based on editor decisions.

5. Conducted Review

The reviewer will set time aside to read the paper several times. The first read is used to form an initial impression of the work. If major problems are found at this stage, the reviewer may feel comfortable rejecting the paper without further work. Otherwise they will read the paper several more times and write his/her detailed point-by-point review. The review is then submitted to the journal, with a recommendation to accept, reject it – or else with a request for making revision.

7. Journal Evaluates the Reviews

Editor will consider all the returned reviews (min two) before making an overall decision. If the reviews differ widely, the editor may invite an additional reviewer in order to get an extra opinion before making a decision.

8. Decision Making

The editor will send a decision email to the author including any relevant reviewer comments and also the carbon copy of mail will be sent to the reviewers.

9. Last Step

If the paper is accepted, the paper will be sent in the publication process. If the article is rejected or sent back for any revision, the handling editor should include constructive comments from the reviewers to help the author improve the article. Thereafter, the manuscript will continue the same process from step 5.
